This week’s edition of JG’s Radio Free Insanity is on the air and available right now at WorldWrestlingInsanity.com (Flash and MP3 download). This week’s guest is the one and only “Sycho” Sid “Vicious” Eudy.

James Guttman starts the show by talking about Sid’s interview today. Sid is a name that Guttman wanted on RFI since the program started. He’s intense and many younger fans might not realize how much he has done in his career. Sid not only delivered some of the most intense promos ever, but he also had a look second to none. In his full ClubWWI.com interview, listeners have a rare chance to hear from a performer who genuinely has a reputation that precedes him. JG says that after the interview, his respect level for Eudy jumped up and he feels that many people will see what he means once they hear it.

Sid’s full interview lasted for 35 minutes on ClubWWI.com and, aside from today’s topics, includes talk of his WCW injury, why he’s never seen it, being a Horseman, watching The Shockmaster fall, why he said “I Told Ya!", Ric Flair and Mick Foley’s “Cat Fight,” wrestling Hulk Hogan, returning to wrestling, tapping for Chris Benoit, seeing Benoit leave WCW the next day, the story behind it, Vince Russo, Kevin Nash, Vince McMahon, Sid “Justice,” Pedro Morales, the high point of his career, Kevin Sullivan, Harley Race, Ole Anderson, doing jobs, and more.

Vicious is the guest on this, Radio Free Insanity’s 72nd show. All the archives are available on ClubWWI.com. You can hear over 70 exclusive interviews with wrestling’s top names including Kevin Nash, Jerry Lawler, DDP, Rob Conway, Paul Bearer, Bobby Heenan, Ted DiBiase, Christian Cage, Samoa Joe, Road Warrior Animal, The Iron Sheik, Rhino, Earl Hebner, The Steiner Brothers, Nidia, Christy Hemme, Chris Daniels, AJ Styles, Vince Russo and dozens of others. Plus audio shows from Lisa “Ivory” Moretti, D-Lo Brown, Kevin Kelly, Orlando Jordan, and Dr. Tom Prichard Guttman tells listeners to go to the free main page located at ClubWWI.com to see all the Club has to offer. With that, he cues up portions from Sid’s interview.

James Guttman welcomes Sid Vicious to the show and asks him how things are going. Sid says they’re going good and JG follows up by talking about his recent comeback. Many fans haven’t seen him since the “WCW Incident.” He asks Eudy about returning to the ring and Sid says that it’s the only thing he’s thought about since the injury. He adds that at this point he may be more anxious than he’s ever been because he’s physically ready to return and hopefully they can “get this thing rolling with Vince so I can get back to work.”

Guttman says that wrestling seems like the kind of thing you don’t realize how much you miss until you’re not doing it anymore. Eudy says it’s exactly right. He says that since it happened, he’s watched a lot of sports and sees these arenas he’s been to. Sid feels that most of his career was spent working instead of sightseeing. He always assumed he could go around and sightsee at the end of his career. Not only that, but when he was on the road, he was working out twice a day. Guys like Bob Holly, Billy Gunn, Bart Gunn, and Carl Oulette all trained with him then and knew the hard schedule they had to keep. Sid misses all that and wishes he could have done a few things differently. If he could do it again, he would have brought some family members with him to see the sights.

“I miss Boston. I miss New York. I miss Philly. I miss all these towns I went to. I miss all those arenas I’ve been in and being in front of all the people. To me, those are the things I miss the most. The surroundings and what comes with that. Being in the arena, doing your job. That means everything to me.”

JG points out that Sid is in an interesting spot because he can’t walk the streets to easily without being recognized due to his stature. Eudy says that’s funny because he just did a wrestling convention in New Jersey. There were lots of stars there and it meant a lot for him to hear from them, including Pedro Morales (who Sid calls one of his biggest heroes). Pedro told him how great he looked and it meant a lot. Plus, he hears from fans on the street all the time. Sid adds that he’s not trying to “kiss my own ass,” but explains that most fans comment on how he was “the greatest.” In Newark, on the way to the wrestling convention, someone walked up and said that. Eudy says that it’s people like that who keeps him going in the wrestling business.

James Guttman asks Sid if he had heard about the Four Horsemen DVD. He had Ole Anderson on to discuss it and wanted to invite Sid on too. On the documentary, Ric Flair had said that Sid was in it for himself and then said, “I’m begging you to put this on the DVD.” Guttman says it sounds like Ric wanted Eudy to hear the statements. Vicious responded:

“This is exactly what happened, OK? Those guys in WWE contacted me about doing a Horsemen thing, but they told me it wouldn’t be a Horsemen video without me in it. OK? Because as the business is today, when I started being a Four Horsemen 15 years ago…I was a stronger character than Ric Flair then and I’m a stronger character now, but the thing is, I was telling the WWE people that I have really big plans and they’re much bigger than a Four Horsemen DVD. I’ve always said I don’t want to water myself down for the future and some of those things I want to do in the future have nothing to do with the Horsemen. It actually has little to do with Sid Vicious…So what I was telling them is that hey, I don’t want to do something that might take a chance from doing something in the future. The thing is, we know the Four Horsemen is Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, and Ole. Those were the Four Horsemen. Anything after that was just trying revamp that. I was very grateful to be part with someone like Arn Anderson who helped me out a lot in my career. He got me to do my very first interview. He worked with me on those things. So to get back to what Ric was saying…It sounds like to me that someone could have made it to him like, “Sid thought he was too good to be a Horsemen” or “he didn’t want to be a Horsemen” or something like that. If you were the creator of the Horsemen and anyone who was asked to be a Horsemen should be awfully grateful and I was grateful, still am grateful, but just didn’t think it was what I was gonna be in the future. I don’t think it was my future. I don’t think the Four Horsemen made me. To me, it sounds a little like someone who was upset that I didn’t think the Horsemen were as big as he thought it was…This is the honest to God’s truth. Ric Flair has been one of the nicest people to me - to my face. ‘And he has to do that otherwise I’d slap the f**k out of him.”

Sid adds that Ric knows that because he’s not the type of person you say that directly to. It sounds to him like Flair’s feelings were hurt. He’ll look at it like that. He then says:

“Look at him and Mankind’s little f**kin’ bitch fight that went back and forth about that book stuff. Honestly, between the both of those guys…”

That’s when the interview clips ends and James Guttman says that he felt that was the best hook. You can hear what he said about Foley vs. Flair in the full interview, which lasted for 35 minutes on ClubWWI.com and, aside from today’s topics, includes talk of his WCW injury, why he’s never seen it, being a Horseman, watching The Shockmaster fall, why he said “I Told Ya!", Ric Flair and Mick Foley’s “Cat Fight,” wrestling Hulk Hogan, returning to wrestling, tapping for Chris Benoit, seeing Benoit leave WCW the next day, the story behind it, Vince Russo, Kevin Nash, Vince McMahon, Sid “Justice,” Pedro Morales, the high point of his career, Kevin Sullivan, Harley Race, Ole Anderson, doing jobs, and more.
