"The Undertaker" is overtaking professional office space in Northern Colorado.

WWE Pro Wrestler Mark Calaway and business partner Scott Everhart are dabbling in the region's Class A office space and liking what they see.

The powerhouse business partners are investing in real estate across the county, including a $2.7 million building at Interstate 25 and Crossroads Boulevard in Loveland.

"The growth here just came out and bit us," said Everhart, who also is a financial consultant for A.G. Edwards. "This is the best place to be."

The Calahart building - named after Calaway and Everhart - boasts upscale office space and prime location to nearby Centerra.

Calaway gradually moved into real estate investment knowing his wrestling career wouldn't last forever. The five-time world champion recently suffered a rupture in the distal tendon of his right arm, meaning Calaway's bicep muscle had torn away from the bone. The injury from the May 11 match will have him out of commission for the next five months.

"(Real estate) is a new adventure for me," Calaway said. "I've done wrestling for 20 years; I know most of the answers."

Because of Fort Collins' prominent status, including being Money Magazine's No. 1 place to live, Calaway and Everhart decided this was their next investment stop.

The Calahart building, which started construction in the third quarter of 2006, is in corn shell condition, meaning the main lobby, bathrooms and all common areas are finished but the individual suites are not, so tenants can design the units the way they want, Re/Max broker associate Michelle Hickey said.

The pair is not new to Northern Colorado. In November 2003, they purchased shops at the corner of Prospect Road and College Avenue. Everhart made it clear they'll continue to search for new investments.

"We're just getting our feet wet right now," Everhart said.

The pair recognizes that bringing some celebrity status to the table doesn't hurt business deals.

"By no means does it seal the deal," Calaway said. "But people do want to sit down and talk with you. It helps us get to meet a lot of people and know what we're trying to get accomplished."

The partnership began in 1989 when Calaway and Everhart met in the basement of the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, Fla. With initial investments in stocks and bonds, the pair decided to expand their portfolio and looked into real estate.

Calaway lives in Austin, Texas, because of his wrestling career, while Everhart has moved to Fort Collins to lead the Calahart business deals and keep tabs on the real estate market.

Calaway was house hunting here a year ago but has since put that on hold.

"It's a little inconvenient right now for travel and work," said Calaway, who often travels back east for wrestling.

But Hickey said the bottom line is that Calaway brings money along with his celebrity status to Northern Colorado.

"(Calaway) is putting money in our economy," Hickey said, "$2.7 million - that's significant."
