PRESS RELEASE: The tragedy that befell Mr. McMahon when his limousine exploded on the June 11 edition of “Monday Night RAW” created an explosion of interest across the Internet.
Last week, WWE was No. 1 and Vince McMahon was No. 3 on Yahoo’s “top leaders” list with Paris Hilton separating them. Mr. McMahon was also on the “top mover” list coming in at No. 13. The WWE also experienced the biggest jump on this week's Lycos 50, coming in at No. 2 behind Ms. Hilton. There was an incredible 9,800% spike in search activity for Mr. McMahon on Lycos.
WWE fans flocked to WWE.com for the latest information on Mr. McMahon’s fate. Early Tuesday, June 12, between 12 a.m. and 1a.m., WWE.com had more than four times the number of page views as the previous night and more than two times the number of page views from the previous week following the “One Night Stand” pay-per-view. WWE.com saw a 50 percent increase in unique visitors from the day before! Total page views for June 12 were 36.8 million with 2 million daily unique visitors, blowing away the WWE.com three month average of 14.3 million page views and 1 million unique visitors.
