Maxon on Wednesday announced the release of Cinebench R10, its 3D benchmarking software for Mac OS X and Windows systems. Cinebench, free to download and us, tests graphics cards and CPUs in critical 3D processing areas.
Cinebench R10 is aimed at production houses, hardware makers and others who want to judge the performance of their systems. Maxon claims that results are 100 percent comparable between operating systems, as well. Separate test sequences are focused on testing the computer’s main processor and the graphics card.
Cinebench R10 contains new test scenes designed to push hardware to its limit; the CPU performance test now pushes area light sources, procedural shaders, ambient occlusion, and multi-level reflections. The graphics card tests have been thoroughly reworked as well.
Cinebench R10 will support up to 16 CPUs or CPU cores and runs on either PowerPC or Intel-based Macs.
