WWE Champion Randy Orton and William Regal appeared on Sky News' afternoon show with Kay Burley a short while ago ahead of tonight's Smackdown and ECW TV tapings in Birmingham to discuss the current UK tour Video footage of Al Snow from back in 2000 was shown to lead into the interview. They was opened by asking for their thoughts on the footage that was shown. Regal replied by saying he wondered why they would show footage of a guy who hasn't been in the company for "ten years." Regal was asked why WWE is so popular. He called it "pop culture", saying wrestling has always been popular and that people enjoy the entertainment aspect of things. Orton said that its competitive and that wrestlers are always trying to make it to the top spots to make more money. He added that no other form of entertainment has the same levels of energy. Burley said that Cage Fighting is now the big thing in the UK as clips of UFC aired. Regal said WWE is more family orientated and that both groups have their own fan base. Burley said she thought the cage fighting looked too fierce, but Orton said that there are a lot of crossover fans who watch both products, adding that they are both athletes and actors, but that there is more to being a pro wrestler than there is a MMA fighter. They cut the interview short to cut to commercial as they'd ran out of time, with Regal and Orton both plugging tonight's sold out tapings (which Burley said was taking place in Wembley, not Birmingham). A short but productive piece.
