In the forward of Chris Jericho’s book, he states that he began writing "A Lion's Tale" in August of 2005 and finished in May of 2007. Chris Jericho said once he turned in the manuscript, he felt he was done, but then a "horrible additional chapter unfolded." It involved one of the main characters in the book and a huge influence on Jericho’s life, Chris Benoit. Jericho said that the man he refers to during the events in his life from 1990 to 1999 is "the man I knew and loved... not the man that existed during the final days of his life." Jericho goes on to say that he prays for the souls of the departed.
