Take it for what it's worth, but I went through the same issues right before my 360 went red on me. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news man.

Most Elites and standard 360's should have had the falcon chipsets in by now so the problems should mostly be fixed.

As long as you purchase one that was built in 2007 you should be good to go. I think the dates of the main production issues were all in the 2006 build outs.

Don't feel bad man, I bought mine from a legit store(I think it was Circuit City) and still had my issues. Not your fault, just a poor design on Microsoft's part.

i played my Xbox list night and everything seems to be fine for now. hopefully the cold air in my room wil help keep the Xbox cool enough to stop it from heating up.

I live in the equivalent of a closet and can reach wall to wall in my room, plus its the hottest room in the house and ive not had any trouble with overheating.

that's a small room. i can take one step in my room and reach the wall while both my arms reaching out to both walls.

Had the same problem bro... bought a 'Brand New' XBOX 360 on eBay, got it, hooked it up and everything was working. Went to buy a couple games, came home, and the damn thing doesn't play the video games! Funny thing is, I DLed the demo for Madden 08, one of the games I bought, and it freezes at the loading screen, just like the disc does. Crazy, huh?
