ROB CONWAY DISCUSSES LA RÉSISTANCE, MUHAMMAD HASSAN AND THE “CONMAN” GIMMICK
“The Ironman” Rob Conway was the guest on the most recent edition of PWB's Official Podcast with Lex and Ian, located at http://www.pwbpodcast.com. In a wide-ranging interview, Rob talked at length about his time in the WWE, as well as what he’s been doing since he left the WWE and has moved on to the indy scene.
On the end of the La Résistance tag team:
“The whole reason that they did split us up…is because they wanted all the “Anti-American” heat, so to speak, to go to Muhammad Hassan…we would go out and get more reaction than him, and go on maybe a little earlier in the night…it would kind of hurt his reaction.”
“If they put us together tomorrow, and we walked out on Raw, we would still have more heat than anybody that they have, and whoever we went against would be more popular than anybody that night.”
On the “Conman” gimmick:
“What happened was, it’s like anything else. You have an idea, you give it to them, and this happens with a lot of things, and it’s not followed up exactly like you had planned. If you do anything halfway, then you’re gonna to get half as much out of it as you put in it. The vision of the character and what ended up happening with it were two different things.”
On the “Conman’s” notorious entrance music:
“I think it’s a catchy little tune, and it’s kind of neat, but for entrance music, it’s definitely not something that’s going to get the fans pumped up and say ‘hey this guy’s coming out here, and he’s meaning business.’”
