Google on Thursday will make its Google Gadgets (http://www.google.com/ig/directory?synd=open)available to Mac users for the first time.
Gadgets are similar to Apple’s Dashboard Widgets in that they are both mini applications that offer users quick access to dynamic information. According to Google the Gadgets can run side-by-side with Apple’s Widgets on the Mac OS X Dashboard.
“For users, this means they can install hundreds of Google Gadgets with just one click and run them in Dashboard,” said Google. “They can also use Gadgets to enhance their personal websites by copying and-pasting the HTML into the page’s source code.”
For developers, Google notes that the new API being released tomorrow will allow them to write one set of Gadgets and be cross platform.
