THE STRO TELLS BACKSTAGE STORIES FROM WCW INCLUDING CHRIS BENOIT AND EDDIE GUERRERO DOING SOMETHING YOU WOULDN'T EXPECT
Get ready to go behind wrestling's curtain with someone who has called many promotions home during their hottest periods. The former WCW Maestro and current NWA-Mountain State Champion The Stro joined ClubWWI.com to discuss his entire career with James Guttman in a shoot interview that tackles all subjects.
During Stro's 50 minute uncut ClubWWI.com shoot, he discussed a ton of topics including: His Relation To "Gorgeous George" Wagner, Wild Backstage Stories From Late '90s WCW, Terry Funk vs. A Chicken, The Surprising Names Originally Picked To Manage Him Before Symphony, Smoky Mountain Wrestling, His First WWF Tryout With Chris Benoit, How Randy Savage Played a Role in His Name, How David Arquette Played a Role in His WCW Departure, Seinfeld's "Maestro," TheStro.com, SMW, USWA, and much more.
One topic he discussed was the locker room environment in WCW. Backstage, Stro had fond memories of people like Chris Benoit (who he had his first WWF Tryout With), Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, Dean Malenko, Terry Funk, Arn Anderson, and many others. He spoke fondly about WCW when asked.
"So many memories. So many great memories I've always cherished. "
James brought up how Kevin Nash, during his ClubWWI shoot, had said that WCW was a party and he loved going to work Mondays. Stro agreed and spoke about the singing prowess…or lack thereof of two of wrestling's best in-ring performers.
"I remember Benoit and Eddie. They're in the back during one of the shows, singing along, right? They're like brothers. They had known each other for so many years. I'm joking around with them. 'Guys. Please don't quit wrestling to do this. '"
Through laughter, JG says it would be strange to picture them in a band. Stro laughs and then talks about an insane incident with Chris Jericho.
"I remember one time I was talking to Dean Malenko, I forget what it was about. Jericho comes out of nowhere wearing his kimono outfit. His hair is all whacked out. (silly voice) 'Oh, hi guys!' He just looked so freaky, right? I never, you know, Dean doesn't really say too much. But he just kind of gave me the weirdest look. Chris just walked off. "
There's many more stories like this including the bizarre tale of Terry Funk fighting a chicken and the bellboy left holding the bag. It's all on Stro's uncut 50 minute ClubWWI.com shoot.
Remember, Stro is one of well over 100 stars spanning countless generations you can hear uncut on ClubWWI.com.
