Nintendo's upcoming Mario Kart Wii features 16 new courses, four control options.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl just shipped to retailers this week, but Nintendo isn't resting on its laurels as it announced Wednesday that Mario Kart Wii will launch on time on April 27.

For the calendar inclined, that's a mere 45 days from today and only 47 days after the launch of potential game of the year candidate Brawl.

According to a press release fired off by Nintendo this morning, Mario Kart Wii will include 16 new courses and 16 classic courses from previous Mario Kart games. And, just in case you've been living under a rock lately and didn't know, Nintendo also revealed that for the first time ever in a Mario Kart title players will have the option of racing with wheelie-popping motorbikes or playing as their personalized Mii caricatures. Players will also have the ability to duke it out locally or online in 10 battle arenas.

Taking a page from Brawl, Nintendo said Mario Kart Wii supports four different control options: Wii Remote with or without the included Wii Wheel; Wii Remote and Nunchuk; Classic Controller; and the Nintendo GameCube controller.

Finally, Mario Kart Wii will launch with a new Wii menu channel that lets players compete in tournaments, check worldwide rankings, see when their friends are playing and download ghost data. Of course, Nintendo promises you'll get all this without voice chat, naturally.
