Al Snow was our special guest this week on the Pain Clinic. He's coming to Rochester in 2 weeks for a show as well as staying for a Wrestlemania 24 viewing party. Come on down all are invited!
Al joined the show and we immediately get his thoughts on the WWE divorce from Ohio Valley Wrestling. We asked Al if the writing was on the wall or did this come by complete surprise. We talk about WWE developmental systems
and the changes over the years. Al throws out some stats that are remarkable about WWE wrestlers who started in OVW.
Al talks about getting 'released' and why it isn't always a negative thing.
Al tells us how 'head' came about and he denies any 'King of The Hill" influence. The 'head' was about Al having a nervous breakdown as a wrestler and his focus of his breakdown was head. We relived a funny moment on the Pain Clinic with a crazy fan crying about "Al Snow eating Pepper".
Al talks about getting 'over' and the research into creating the character. He explains it one of the hardest thing to do in the business. He talks about Greg Gagne's thoughts on the process when he was in OVW.
Al talks about possible opening a school in the future. he enjoys training and wants to continue it. Al talks about the training he had and how there are allot of nuances
that modern wrestlers have to learn.
Al talks about recycled characters being used now and his thoughts on that. Guys who got over in OVW and not in the WWE are talked about next. He gave us a
great example. Very funny story.
Al stayed on through the break and immediately talked about being stalked by a fan and the things that happened after he put up a myspace page. This leads into Steve Blackman talk and his quirky personality. A great Blackman story followed. The "Al and Steve Show" segments are discussed.
Al give his thoughts on the ECW resurrection. He was supposed to return full time but his work in OVW wouldn't let him go. Al talks about the value of TV time with
the WWE and he's happy to see ECW still on TV and letting guys get a chance.
Al gives us a real close look at what opportunities Vince McMahon gives guys and he really thinks he's a great guy.
Al talks about short TV matches and what the wrestlers have to accomplish in the time they have. We let him go and look forward to meeting him in 2 weeks.
