With the Blu-ray and HD DVD war all played out, Dell sells new laptop online
Dell Inc. today began selling an updated version of its Inspiron laptop with a Blu-ray drive for less than $900.
With Blu-ray technology the recent victor in the HD disc format wars, Dell is quick to take advantage of the move. The company announced that the Blu-ray laptops, with a starting price of $879, will be sold on its Web site starting today.
The Inspiron 1525 with optional Blu-ray disc playback also has an optional Blu-ray burner drive. The computer has a 15.4-in. high-definition display with 720p resolution, according to Dell. The laptop is designed to be fully backward compatible, playing and burning traditional DVDs and CDs.
Optional accessories for the Inspiron 1525, which is available in the U.S., Canada and Europe, include a slim travel power adapter, noise-isolation earphones and a Dell travel remote control that goes into the ExpressCard slot.
