There is definitely some friction between Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and WWE right now, both with management and some top wrestlers. John Cena touched on the issue during an interview recently published in the UK Sun where he questioned why Rock couldn’t attend more WWE events.

Rock has rejected WWE’s invitations to several events since he left the company for Hollywood, and this doesn’t sit well with Cena, Vince McMahon, Triple H and Steve Austin just to name a few. These guys feel that Rock could domore to payback the company and the fans that helped him become a star.

There are also a number of people within the company who sympathize with Rock’s situation though, as he’s become a hot name in Hollywood and is being advised to distance himself from pro wrestling. Rock makes a ton more money with movies than he could with wrestling, and obviously wants to do what will take care of his family.

In Austin’s case, it’s said that he wishes he was in the physical condition to continue wrestling, so it’s hard for him to understand why a guy like Rock wouldn’t want to do more in wrestling. Austin’s lengthy list of injuries likely won’t allow him to wrestle another full-length match. Rock and Austin haven’t stayed in touch with each other over the last few years and there was reportedly some friction between the two at the Hall of Fame ceremony on Saturday night.

Most of Rock’s defenders in WWE say that people are jealous of his success and are just hating on him, but seem to think that the situation with Austin is about much more than jealously. Austin is said to recognize the fact that Rock is doing great with his acting career, and that it could mean more opportunities for more wrestlers in Hollywood.

One source within WWE mentioned Rock returning to the ring at WrestleMania 25, but said that the chances of it happening are far less than 50/50 if for no other reason than his busy filming schedule.

I've heard about The Rock returning to wrestling about 6000 times over the last couple of years.

ya i know its pathetic

and i see where all those guys are coming from

true he may be trying to distance himself from that image

buuuuut.... if it wasnt for him being a wwe wrestler the odds of him getting a deal to do a movie probably would have been very slim

so he really does owe it to the wwe for helping make him a huge star

These reports really do amuse me.
Rock has rejected WWE’s invitations to several events since he left the company for Hollywood, and this doesn’t sit well with Cena, Vince McMahon, Triple H and Steve Austin just to name a few.lol, name a few more...who gives a fuck? So what if it doesn't "sit well" with these people--how does that affect Dwayne in any way?

It seems like listing people such as Vince, Austin, and Triple H as not being happy with Dwayne was supposed to somehow inflate this problem and really make him look bad considering the status of those who aren't happy with him. If the list of names of people within WWE who were mad at Dwayne consisted of just Funaki, Val Venis, and Colin Delaney, do you think this would be as big a deal?

None of the internet wrestling reporters (or fans for that matter) seem to understand that this goes beyond pro wrestling. It's simply laughable that Austin is being represented as not understanding why Dwayne doesn't want to do more with wrestling. I doubt that is really what he thinks, but if it is, there's a pretty simple explanation: Dwayne has found something that he can make more money doing on a much less time-consuming, physically demanding schedule. Only a complete moron would pass up a job where they could work less, work easier, and earn more money. The exception would of course be people who are wrapped up in the delusion of "loyalty" to the pro wrestling industry, like Ric Flair. Flair is hands down the greatest wrestler ever, but he's also very delusional and unrealistic in his views on and expectations of the pro wrestling industry. This has been documented in several supposedly "shoot" interviews he's done over the years.

Anyway, back to the topic. In light of all the shit that's gone down in the business within the last 12 months, it makes perfect since why Dwayne would want to distance himself from the pro wrestling industry, on top of him simply not being a wrestler anymore and feeling no obligation to act like one (and yes, that was a shot at Triple H's bone-headed "Dwayne fans" comment at the HOF ceremony, in case you were wondering). Every last one of these big names in WWE who are reportedly pissed of at Dwayne really need to get over themselves.
