A bag filled with thousands of dollars found in a Windsor, Ontario, backyard will go back to its owner if police get a good explanation how it got there.
On April 4, a teenager cleaning up his family's backyard found the bag, which Windsor Police Staff Sgt. Ed McNorton said contained "many thousands" of dollars, the Windsor Star reported.
McNorton said police would reveal little about the find so as to force the real owner to provide an accurate description of the bag and its contents. He said investigators also want to know where the money came from and how it ended up in a suburban backyard, the report said.
He also didn't indicate if the money was Canadian or U.S. currency, since the city borders Detroit.
He said if no one comes forward within six months of the April 4 discovery, the teenager who found it will get to keep it, the Star said.
