Yesterday on my hotline, I talked about how DVR penetration has gone up to 23% nationally. I mentioned that it could mean that Raw's ratings aren't quite as bad as they seem to be (though clearly they are down below where they should be given the fact that they are the industry leader). As it turns out, the hours of the 3/31 edition of Raw, the day after WrestleMania, were two of the top five time shifted hours on cable TV that week. Hour one saw an addition of 7.3% to their viewership when the DVR numbers were factored in while hour two added 8.6 percent to their viewer total. So, if those people watched live, it would add a few tenths of a rating to Raw's numbers. It's not a windfall by any means, but it's something.

Along the ratings jag, the 4/18 edition of Smackdown did just a 2.2 broadcast rating. Even with preemptions taken into account, that is a bad number.

Chris Gabbard sent word that on Raw this Monday in the Detroit market they advertised a main event of Randy Orton and Umaga vs. DX for the 5/12 show in the Motor City.

Cameron Hamon sent along a poster for the 6/1 One Night Stand. Kane is featured, wearing a blacksmith's apron and holding a hot WWE branding iron. The caption reads, "One Night Stand - The One Night A Year When WWE Goes Extreme."

A number of readers have sent word that during New Orleans Hornets home games, every time star guard Chris Paul shoots free throws the sound system plays Ric Flair's "Whoo". I saw an article in Sports Illustrated about it this week and Paul said they have been doing it for a while now and that he didn't really know it was a Flair thing until this year. He talked about Flair coming to the Hornets game last week and said he knew who Flair was. He knew because he watched wrestling when he was younger. He also said that Andre The Giant would have been a good basketball player.

As I mentioned in the other thread, this isn't really positive news for RAW, especially considering that it's something that's been happening for a long time.
