Here is my report from the Hampton Beach Casino and Ballroom (there is no actual casino at the venue). The show is sponsored by WHEB 100.3 a radio station in New Hampshire that supports wrestling and has a lot of its stars on the air. It was a Smackdown show and I would like to mention who wasn't at the show MVP, Big Show, Umaga, Mr. Kennedy, Jesse, Festus, HHH or Edge. I was disappointed at the lack of star power at the show but then again it was a small venue.
Our ring announcer for the evening was none other than Howard Finkel.
Finkel introduced Maria who picked a fan to ring the bell.
Carlito vs Ricky Ortiz
Carlito comes out in corn rows with his apple and he faced Ricky Ortiz(?) The funny thing about this match was that Ortiz has hair exactly like Carlito use to have. Carlito wins with the backcracker. I took a picture of Carlito's half eaten apple lying outside the ring if anyone would like a copy.
R Truth (Ron Killings) vs Nick something
You can guess who won. The Truth's finishing move looked impressive.
It is now time for the Diva Dance-Off contestants were Victoria,Maryse,Cherry and Tiffany(guess the hair color for Tiffany for bonus points) Tiffany wins by fans cheering then all four fight until Cherry and Tiffany fight off the heels. This was horrible.
Finlay with Hornswoggle vs The Great Kahli
Hornswoggle didn't do much but he did do the arm between the legs shot on Khali. Khali wins with the chop to threw head. Plastic Irish hats were selling for $20.00 and a ton of kids had them on.
US Title match with Shelton Benjamin vs Jimmy Wang Yang.
Shelton stalled a lot and even threatened to leave twice. He wins with his finishing move
Time for intermission
Maria picks a boy to be guess manager
Bam Neely vs Evan Bourne (not sure about this didn't know who he was) Anyway Bourne won if that who it was
Finkel gets on the mic and says it is time for the main event. ECW champion Mark Henry comes out with Tony Atlas and Colin Delany. Atlas says it is his pleasure to introduce the worlds strongest champion Mark Henry. Atlas was pretty entertaining yelling at the crowd and saying the match was over every time Henry did a move. Henry says he has places to go so bring out his opponent. Hit the music Ohhhh Yeahhhh its Matt Hardy. A huge pop for Hardy. Hardy gets on the mic and says he is going to be new ECW champion. Lots of nerve pinches and bear hugs. Henry threatens to leave at won point. Hardy goes for his big finish but Henry shoves him into the ropes and hits his big power slam for the win.
Overall was glad that the WWE came to Hampton. The lack of star power was disappointing. The kids in the crowd seemed to have a good time. I know my two nephews enjoyed the show.
As a side note "sign guy" played a big part in the show all night long. Shelton Benjamin after his match took sign guy's hat and shoved it down his trunks and then rubbed it his face. My nephew had his picture taken with sign guy as he enjoyed his antics all night long. I on the other hand couldn't stand him.
