Britney Spears’ dad has control over her affairs and multi-million dollar fortune for at least another five months.
Lawyers for the star held a closed-door meeting at Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday and Court commissioner Reva Goetz extended Jamie Spears' conservatorship of his daughter’s estate.
No other details emerged about the star’s health or business matters and lawyers declined to answer reporters’ questions as they left the court.
Spears, 26, rose to fame as a teenage singing sensation but since 2006 her personal life has dominated the headlines. Her split from husband Kevin Federline was followed by a string of public meltdowns.
In January she was admitted to hospital twice for psychiatric evaluations and in February her father took control of her affairs.
That control has now been extended to the end of this year.
In recent weeks Spears has shown signs of getting her life back on track. She has been keeping a lower profile and has settled her dispute with Federline over custody of the couple’s two young sons.
Some reports suggest she is spending upward of £11,000 a month to get back in shape with a rigorous diet and exercise regime.
A source reportedly told ‘Closer’ magazine: "Britney is so proud of herself because her ab muscles are back. She’s feeling better than she has in ages."
