In a strange wrestling-related note, Joseph Tyrone Brown,31, of Jacksonville, FL was arrested for allegedly beating his mother-in-law to death used Jimmy Snuka's Superfly leap to describe how he pounced on the victim. According to the Leader newspaper, the police report released to the media noted, "The defendant was extremely animated and emotional as he would describe his reenactment of the incident inside the residence. In describing a portion of the attack on the victim, the defendant even cited a former professional wrestler 'Jimmy Superfly Snooka [sic].' He used this to illustrate how he jumped on top of the victim." It was the first homicide of the year in Jacksonville Beach.
