- As previously posted, Vince McMahon made the call to pull Mick Foley from the Hell in a Cell match between Edge and The Undertaker at SummerSlam. Foley was set to play a role as a part of the 10th anniversary of his 1998 HIAC match with The Undertaker.
Foley was told not to come because it would distract from the new plans that they had come up with for the match. Vince told the WWE creative team that the plan for Foley was off the show and to move on without him in mind. Nobody asked any questions because they all knew what it meant. It didn’t come as a shock creatively because they had already done the angle with Edge which could write Foley off TV.
There have been rumblings in Hollywood for about a month now from people representing Foley that he would be available soon after he pulled out of everything when he took the SmackDown announcing job.
