WWE is still hoping to have John Cena back for Survivor Series which is on Sunday, November 23, 2008 from Cena's hometown of Boston, Massachusetts. It was revealed in late August that Cena had a herniated disk in his neck in which he underwent emergency surgery in Pittsburgh to repair. WWE issued a press release after his surgery that they expected him to be out of action for three months.
From everything we have heard Cena's rehabilitation is going well which has left company officials optimistic. If Cena is unable to wrestle at Survivor Series, it is still very likely that he will appear in front of the live crowd with the event being in Boston.
John Cena's injury caused several changes in WWE including Rey Mysterio's return being pushed up and Randy Orton being brought back to television before he was medically cleared to wrestle.
