In celebration of the 25th anniversary of wrestling's first annual supercard, Starrcade, WWE 24/7 is airing a five-part special called "The Essential Starrcade" counting down the top 25 matches in its illustrious history -- as voted on by the fans. Here are the five matches featured in the first edition of the show: 25) Hollywood Hogan vs. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper (Starrcade 1996), 24) Sting vs. The Great Muta, Iron Man Challenge Tournament (Starrcade 1994), WCW Tag Team Champions Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat & Shane Douglas vs. Barry Windham and Flyin' Brian Pillman (Starrcade 1992), 22) WCW World Heavyweight Champion Goldberg vs. Kevin Nash (Starrcade 1998), 21) Battlebowl Battle Royal (WCW Starrcade 1991). "Mean" Gene Okerlund, who hosts the special, said Sting garnered the most fan votes for his matches on WWE.com.
