- It appears that WWE is focusing more on actual wrestling than backstage segments and interviews with the SmackDown brand. The past few episodes of Friday Night SmackDown on MyNetworkTV have contained more wrestling than usual and this week’s show had approximately 45 minutes of wrestling, much more than RAW’s weekly average of 30-35 minutes.
Jim Ross talked about the focus on more wrestling in a blog entry recently and said it has to do with WWE switching to taping two SmackDown shows in one night on Tuesdays to cut costs. When WWE tapes more matches and less segments, it makes for an easier TV taping schedule on the WWE crew.
