Steve Wozniak has joined the Axiotron Board of Advisors. The business specializes in modding Apple notebooks to create stylus-based, tablet Macs going by the name of “Modbook.” Woz has been welcomed in the company to assist its engineers in developing ever better solutions to mod Mac portables.
The company's official announcement reveals that it sees the Apple co-founder as “a trailblazer at the dawn of the personal computing revolution.” Axiotron admires him “for the ingenuity of his designs for the home-built Apple I machine, and its enormously popular successor, Apple II.”
The company suggests that it was Steve who gave shape and form to the notion of personal computing, while Axiotron merely tries to give Macs more pop. The same report notes that Woz has devoted the recent years of his life to various business and philanthropic ventures, including education with a particular focus on educational technology.
“We’re thrilled to bring Steve onto our Board of Advisors. His deep knowledge and experience are an invaluable resource for Axiotron,” Andreas E. Haas, CEO of Axiotron, says. “Steve’s forward-thinking and non-conformist approach, his incredibly creative engineering designs, and his emphasis on the human aspects of technology have always been an inspiration to me.”
“Axiotron is designing user-focused innovations, such as the Modbook, that improve and advance our digital lives,” Mr. Wozniak adds. “I look forward to working with Andreas and his team to further this vision.”
Now that he's on the Board of Advisors, Mr. Wozniak is expected to offer his insights into market trends as well as product initiatives, such as Axiotron's Modbook, and the company's Modservice, which enables customers to transform their existing Apple MacBook computer into a pen-based tablet machine. Furthermore, the service can change a White MacBook (for example) into a working Mac tablet encased in aircraft quality aluminum. Mod-ready units are also available for purchase
