Reports in The Sun newspaper claim that Simon Cowell is keen to launch Cheryl Cole in America.
The newspaper claims the music mogul has hired lawyers to sort out Cole's visa problems. The singer and television presenter has a criminal record for assault after an incident in a nightclub in 2003. As a result she is unable to obtain a working visa.
An insider is quoted in the newspaper as saying "Simon was dazzled by Cheryl's performance on The X Factor.
"He's certain he can turn her into a global star, but he just needs to iron out her visa problem. He's employed a firm of experts in Miami and is confident they will be able to reach some kind of arrangement."
Cowell is reported to be eager to get Cole an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
