Steve Austin has requested that WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair induct him into the 2009 Class of the WWE Hall of Fame on Saturday 4/4 in Houston, Texas during Wrestlemania weekend.
Internally within WWE, feelings are mixed on the idea as Flair isn't part of the company and it would mean putting him on TV (and technically promoting his name, which helps him on outside endeavors) but Flair's name would also mean ratings for the Hall of Fame special that traditionally airs on the USA Network in edited form the same evening. Flair's induction last year did a tremendous rating for the special.
The belief among those I've spoken to is that Austin will get his way because, at the very least, he's got the political stroke to get it due to his success and tenure with the company.
