The Greenwich Time reported today that World Wrestling Entertainment Chief Executive Officer Linda McMahon clarified to Connecticut Governor M. Judi Rell yesterday that her college major was French, not education, as she previously stated.
McMahon, who awaits confirmation on Tuesday for a spot on the Connecticut state school board, told the governor that she learned of the discrepancy by a reporter from the Stamford Advocate, according to an article today by the Greenwich Time.
Gov. Rell issued a news release claiming that McMahon's major was in education as did her official biography provided by WWE.
McMahon claimed in a letter to Rell that she "inadvertently" referred to her degree as being in education while filling out a background questionnaire for the governor.
"At the time that was how it was referenced in the professional marketplace," McMahon said. "In other words it was referenced I had a degree in education meaning certified to teach with a major in French."
Despite the discrepancy, a spokesman for the governor was quoted in the Greenwich Time, saying that the governor was satisfied with McMahon's explanation.
