As mentioned earlier, On July 7, The Sci Fi Channel will change its name to Syfy (which is pretty much the same thing isn't it?). The goal is to get viewers outside of their current cult viewership. With them looking to attract a larger audience, it may give WWE another option for Smackdown if the plug is pulled on MyNetworkTV. In the past, it had been a battle for NBC Universal honcho Bonnie Hammer to get wrestling on the network but as they evolve, it could become easier should the situation arise in the future.
