Now that the Intercontinental Championship match between John Bradshaw Layfield and Rey Mysterio has been announced for WrestleMania 25, this marks the first WrestleMania to feature a match for the Intercontinental Title since WrestleMania 18. On that night, Rob Van Dam defeated William Regal to become the new Champion.
