Jay Reso got away from WWE to regenerate himself mentally and physically.

Eight years on the road had worn on him.

A reduced schedule with TNA, which operates out of Orlando, near his Tampa home, gave him what he needed.

But it also drove the star we know as Christian back to WWE, where he has already won a spot in Wrestlemania's Money in the Bank match.

"I'd been away for three-plus years," says Christian. "(Returning) was nothing personal (against TNA). I had a chance to re-evaluate the things I wanted in life. I didn't think my job was done in WWE. I felt if I wanted to be on top, WWE's where I had to be. I had some unfinished business here."

He was excited to re-debut on ECW, working his way into a program with Jack Swagger.

"Standing behind the curtain before I stepped out, I was feeling nervous, yet comfortable at the same time. There had been speculation about certain things, but I don't think anybody expected me to show up on ECW. It's a good place to get my feet wet.

'THREE YEARS WISER'

"I knew I would have to prove myself again. Nothing in life is guaranteed. I don't want to be handed anything. I want to earn everything. It's a blank canvas for me now.

"One hundred percent, I'm better now than when I left. I'm three years older and three years wiser."

A win in the Money in the Bank match would provide opportunities -- every winner to date has gone on to capture a championship -- and it'd be wonderful if Christian gets a chance to work a program with his childhood buddy, Adam Copeland (Edge).

"(Edge) has really upped his game. He's at the top for a reason," says Christian. "And he deserves everything he gets. He's worked so hard for it. Right now, I'm just plying my trade."

So, how does he feel with Wrestlemania a week away?

"There's a feeling about the whole week of Wrestlemania. When you get closer to the event, you get butterflies in your stomach. It's very exciting."

The sad thing is with Vince calling the shots, he'll never be the WWE champion or World Champion any time soon. I doubt he'd even be the ECW champion. Vince just can't see how much talent that man has on both the mic and the ring work.

Theres a very good reason for that, he just doesnt have "it". He can be entertaining on the mic and he isnt horrible in the ring, but he doesnt look, both in physical characteristics and ring presence, like a world champion. Most importantly, as he proved in his time with TNA, he doesnt put asses in the seats.

You can say the same thing about CM Punk and yet, he was World Champion and won the MITB match as well.
