Richard Madeley has backed Myleene Klass to take over from Fern Britton on 'This Morning'.
Madeley and his wife Judy Finnegan hosted the show for 13 years from its launch in 1988, and he said he thought the former Hear'Say singer had what it took to shine on the popular daytime programme.
But he warned the 31-year-old - who presents Channel 4's '10 Years Younger', has guest spots on several television and radio programmes and models for M&S - could be in danger of spreading herself too thinly.
The current front runner to take over from Britton, Melanie Sykes, would be a good alternative, he said.
"I've worked with Myleene Klass when Judy had a week off to have some work done on her eyes and she was very good, extremely good and she'd be excellent although she is very thinly spread at the moment," Madeley said. "(She does) so many things so that might have an impact."
Britton announced on March 25 she was quitting This Morning at the end of the current series after 10 years, and speculation about her replacement has been rife ever since.
Co-presenter Phillip Schofield, 46, wrote on his Twitter webpage last weekend that he had been "swamped" with recommendations about who should step into Britton's shoes.
Madeley, 52, said Sykes was still in with a good chance.
"Melanie is very experienced now. I remember I did one show with her once on 'This Morning' and she was very good, very switched on and she's done a lot since then," he said.
