Kitty McGeever plays ex-con Lizzie Lakely, who is set to challenge stereotypes by using her disability for her own crafty ends.
Kitty said: "I am just disabled because my eyes don't work and that is my only disability.
"Once you get the label 'disabled', you become vulnerable and people treat you differently, as if you are emotionally vulnerable.
"The character Lizzie is in control of the situation. She manipulates every situation to her own advantage.
"She will use her disability when she needs it and disregard it when she wants to as well and I don't think we've ever seen that before on TV."
