Rey Mysterio suffered a knee injury during the match he taped for "WWE Superstars" with Shelton Benjamin prior to last night's SmackDown! tapings. Apparently the injury isn't serious enough to keep him out of the ring this Sunday at Judgment Day, but it was serious enough to cause a frenzy backstage at the tapings last night.
The storylines, segments and matches were changed on the fly for SmackDown! backstage at the tapings. Apparently the original idea was for a Rey Mysterio vs. Edge main event that would turn into a tag match with Mysterio & Jeff Hardy vs. Edge & Chris Jericho.
However, due to the injury Mysterio suffered in his match with Shelton Benjamin earlier in the night, the new main event of Edge vs. Chris Jericho was added instead, with the two having practically no notice.
Again, Mysterio's injury wasn't too serious, as he was able to do a run-in later in the tapings, but couldn't wrestle, which casued a number of segments building to his planned main event with Edge to be rewritten as the show was going on live.
