- Shelton Benjamin recently explained to Cincinnati.com what it means to be a pro wrestler in a great quote we all should take notice of:

“To me, pro wrestlers are the toughest athletes, period. And I say this very proudly, and I say this because unlike any other sport or entertainment profession, we don’t have an off-season. If you’re in sports, you have an off-season. If you’re in television, you have a certain number of weeks where you shoot your show and then you’re off to another project or whatever. For us, there is no break in the action. Secondly, we are the only people that I’m aware of that go on no matter what. There are tons of times - people don’t even recognize it - that we get hurt in the ring, but we’re such professionals and most of us have such pride in what we do that even when we’re hurt, we still go on. I’m not saying or suggesting anyone do that, but that’s what it means to be a pro wrestler. It’s like the mail: Rain, sleet or snow, the show must go on.”

Good or bad, he has it in a nutshell.

Comical, tougher than NFL players, I dont think so. Players from other sports also play injured, and for way longer amounts of time. And cry me a river about how you have no offseason, I guarantee you get more time off than I do at my job.

Most of this is true and I've never seen any other sport have people fall 15 leet and continue or rip a muscle and finish. Maybe I'm wrong though I also don't have alot of time off. But it doesn't compare to 300 days on the road. I still sleep in my bed most nights.

ya shelton has a very good point

they are almost never at home and when they are thats for like a day then they're back on the road again

you try falling off a ladder or even a turnbuckle into the ring or the outside and keep going at it

like ya they're somewhat padded but its still gonna hurt specially if you land wrong

i give them a lot of credit cuz i know i could never do it
