Following a survey late last month that first brought word of the potential sequel, a new Twitter post has now confirmed (...more or less) that Electronic Arts is indeed developing Command & Conquer 4. The only problem is that it looks like they weren't supposed to confirm it yet.
Joystiq picked up on the Twitter post from EA's UK PR team, which read, "New release: EA Los Angeles Announces the Development of Command & Conquer 4 http://bit.ly/LOk6R." The link takes you to EA's page of official press releases, but a scan reveals that no press release for Command & Conquer 4 exists yet. It would seem, then, that this Twitter message got tweeted a little prematurely.

Still, this is pretty strong evidence that C&C4 is in fact in development, which makes us more inclined to believe the few details that the survey revealed about the game back in June. According to the survey, C&C4 will be the "epic conclusion to the 15-year Tiberium saga." The survey also explained the game will feature "innovative RPG-like player progression, persistent in both single player and multiplayer modes, co-op play, and new stylized, live-action cinematics." So when EA does get around to issuing a press release, hopefully it'll reveal how many of these details will actually make it into the game.
