Ric Flair has not re-signed with WWE, but he was close to signing a deal several weeks ago. WWE wanting Flair to work exclusively was the deal breaker, as Flair wanted to work independently so he can continue living his lifestyle while at the same time pay his bills.
It was reported that Flair made $500,000 per year for the goodwill ambassador role he took following his WrestleMania 24 retirement match. Flair now pays over $20,000 a month in alimony and is said to be frustrated with the short-term notice of some of the bookings. Flair is still open to the idea of working selective dates for WWE as a non-contracted performer. WWE officials have made it clear that they do not intend to use him as a wrestler.
