In a Time.com article about the "Top 10 Worst Corporate Name Changes" (in response to news that Radio Shack will drop the Radio from its name), they list the WWF-to-WWE switch as number seven. Noting Linda McMahon's explanation that the "E" better emphasizes the company's entertainment value, the author writes, "The comment didn't do much to stamp out persistent rumors that the fights are rigged — but hey, at least she was honest."

Well it's not like they just decided to change it for giggles. They HAD to change it since they lost the lawsuit with the World Wildlife Federation over ownership of the WWF name.

as much as i hated it

they can't count it cuz it was either change it or go into court and fight it out in a huge case

it was a no brainer to change it
