Enterprising importers who are hoping to get a hold of Bayonetta ahead of its North American release date may find the way blocked. Kotaku is reporting that the upcoming action title will be region locked.
During Gamescom, Sega of Europe representatives said they want to protect sales outside of Europe, so Bayonetta will be region locked. That's standard operating procedure for many Japanese Xbox 360 releases, but it would be unusual for the PlayStation 3.
Asked for comment by Videogaming247, Sega of Europe said that there is "likely to be a release on the matter near the game's Japanese launch on October 29."
Seems like gamers outside of Japan might be out of luck. Bayonetta is currently scheduled for a January 2010 release in North America.
