Authorities say the man who held a couple hostage in their Kansas home fell asleep and they escaped unharmed.
Topeka Police Capt. Jerry Stanley said that authorities then stormed the house, where they confronted the man.
The suspect was shot, but his injuries were not life-threatening.
Authorities say Jesse Dennis Dimmick led them on a car chase Saturday morning that ended in Dover where he fled from his car, went into the couple's home and held them captive for hours.
Authorities have been looking for Dimmick because he's wanted in connection with a homicide in Aurora, Colo.
On Friday, Geary County deputies chased Dimmick in another stolen vehicle. During that pursuit, Dimmick wrecked the vehicle and fled.
