Cyber-Ark has updated its Inter-Business Vault (IBV), which enables secure file transfers between organisations, adding features to aid migration from legacy technologies without requiring business partners to change their IT infrastructure.
Available now, IBV v5.5 includes new features to encourage the adoption of more modern and efficient file transfer processes, according to the firm.
"In the last two years we've added features to IBV to automate business processes as much as possible, but this often involved a rip-and-replace approach," said Cyber-Ark vice president of product management Roy Adar.
"With v5.5, we've added the ability to integrate legacy processes so that customers can upgrade their own core platform without affecting their partners'. "
This includes the ability for IBV to maintain links with partners still using File Transfer Protocol (FTP) servers and scripts to handle processes based on file transactions. IBV v5.5 also provides enhanced support for secure FTP transfers using Secure Shell.
"Companies dealing with entities like banks often find themselves in a stalemate where they can't change their processes unless their partner does. With this update, you can have a more robust platform for your own business processes, and leave partners to upgrade later," said Adar.
Cyber-Ark has also added My Transfer Manager, a web-based tool for manual file transfer operations that does not need an installed client. It offers an improved user experience, especially for large file transfers, as it can tolerate interruptions in connectivity and allow users to resume downloading from where they left off, according to Adar.
Other improvements include enhanced support for Lightweight Directory Access Protocol authentication for secure file exchange, and performance improvements for high-volume transfers.
IBV v5.5 is available in Enterprise and Server editions, the latter targeting smaller companies. Enterprise edition pricing typically costs from £21,000 for 25 users, while Server edition costs £10,000 for up to 10 users.
