- The latest on Shane McMahon leaving WWE is that it is legit, and not a storyline. WWE issued a press release on their corporate website, which gives the departure more creditability that this in fact true.
There is no word on why Shane left the company. Vince has come down hard on his son over the past several years and it could have played a part. It could also be possible that he wanted to pursue other interests. Shane is a huge mixed martial arts fan and has tried to convince his father to get involved in the market a few years ago. He could join an existing MMA promotion or launch his own company.
Most within the company seem to think Shane left so he can join his mother Linda McMahon during her U.S. Senate campaign, and to avoid upsetting WWE’s shareholders while helping with the campaign. "Unless he's going to fund a vanity venture, all signs point to him helping his mother (with the campaign)," said one former WWE employee. "She needs some backup."
