Singer Dionne Bromfield, 13, who appeared alongside Amy on Strictly Come Dancing, said her godmother was hit with a bout of stage fright before handing over the Inspiration Award to the Specials.
She said: "She was nervous at first, she was like 'I don't want to mess it up or anything' but she looked good so what can you say?"
Amy was late arriving to the stage leaving host Al Murray to fill the silence with some off-the-cuff comedy.
He said: "Stop... she's not here yet. I'll have to do that stuff about her boob job later."
When Amy finally arrived she said: "Ladies and Gentlemen put your hands together please, you've been to a million of these events before, I understand, we've all been there.
"But listen put your hands together, make some noise for the most inspirational band of all time - the Specials."
