Junior "Cigano" (gypsy) Dos Santos discussed his recent impressive victories over Mirko Cro-Cop Filipovic and Gilbert Yvel. Dos Santos is currently unbeaten in the UFC, and fought mainly top-tier fighters, but the Brazilian Heavyweight is still with his feet on the ground, as he looks for constant improvement:

"The strategy was to feel out the standup because he is very good in striking, but striking is also the basis I trust most, so I could not rule out where I'm strongest, but if things became harder, I would have taken him down to develop the ground fighting. Thank God my punch landed. My hands are very heavy.”

“These guys were strikers, so no one struck with them,” dos Santos said. “Everybody tried to take them down, and that's what I changed. I tried to surprise them, and it worked.”

Junior Dos Santos will face former Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion - Gabrial "Napao" Gonzaga, who was once a Heavyweight title contender at the first UFC fight card on Versus channel. Cigano declared that he is ready to face anyone UFC throws at him, but still had a lot of respect for Gonzaga:

“I'm ready for anyone,” he said. “Gonzaga is a great fighter, very tough. I will prepare again for this fight with a lot of focus and get there 100 percent.”

Junior Dos Santos is currently 10-1 in his MMA career, and trains at Team Nogueira alongside Anderson Silva and the Nogueira brothers. Gonzaga will be the second Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu expert Dos Santos fights, the first one was Fabricio Werdum - who got brutally knocked out by Junior "Cigano" Dos Santos.

This could be a great fight and would really secure Dos Santos a spot at the top of the division, if he could pick up the win. Hope it happens.

i dont think beating gonzaga gets him into the top he has to beat carwin, mir, velasquez, nogeria one of those to really break through

Well... maybe not to the very top, but beating Gonzaga would definitely get him a lot higher in the division than his is now... and then would probably come a fight with one of those guys.
