Interestingly enough, reports suggest that one of the main reasons WWE nixed running CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio as a hair
vs. mask bout this weekend was that the ending would have come off as too predictable. The feeling was that because everyone knows Mysterio is not going to demask, there would have been no intrigue in the outcome.
Others, however, counter that fans “knowing” what would happen is exactly why the concept would have gotten over–fans would have wanted to see the heel CM Punk get his head shaved.
The match, nonetheless, might still happen at a later date in the Punk-Mysterio feud. A lot will depend on how long Mysterio opts to put off getting needed ACL surgery, as the recovery
period would put him on the sidelines.
