WWE SmackDown! WrestleMania Revenge Tour
Friday 9th April 2010
The O2 Arena, Dublin Ireland
Match One:
Kane def. Ezekiel Jackson
Slow, slightly sloppy match that nonetheless did a good job of getting the younger audience excited for the show. Kane won an evenly-matched contest with a Chokeslam.
Match Two:
Beth Phoenix def. Layla
Decent match, easily better than the majority of Divas matches seen on TV in recent times. Layla got a surprising amount of offense in and actually dominated a large portion of the match before inevitably falling to Phoenix.
Match Three:
The Hart Dynasty w/Natalya def. Trent Barreta and Caylen Croft
Very entertaining tag team match, featuring some clever teamwork from Barreta and Croft. The Hart Dynasty won by submission, locking simultaneous Sharpshooters on their opponents.
Match Four:
R-Truth def. Dolph Ziggler
After R-Truth's usual "What's Up?" routine, Ziggler riled the crowd up by teasing a count-out several times before the match officially started. An even back-and-forth contest ended with R-Truth rolling Ziggler up for the win.
Match Five:
John Morrison def. Luke Gallows
Despite interference from Serena, Morrison hit Starship Pain on Gallows to end a good match. Immediately following the decision, Punk hit the ring and attacked Morrison, only for Mysterio to make the save, leaving the two babyfaces posing in the ring to lead into the intermission.
Match Six:
Intercontinental Championship Match
Drew McIntyre (c) def. Matt Hardy
While the match started off good, it lagged a bit in the middle, despite the thoroughly pro-Hardy crowd. After a couple of attempts at the Twist of Fate, McIntyre hits the Future Shock to retain his title.
Match Seven:
Rey Mysterio def. CM Punk
Easily the highlight of the night, there was a lot of action in this contest, with Punk and Mysterio briefly brawling over the barricade and into the crowd. An astounding go-home sequence involving several attempts at 619s, Go to Sleeps and failed interference from Gallows and Serena led to Mysterio hitting a 619 and a springboard splash for the win. Also noteworthy was that there seemed to be a struggle in the ring at the start of Mysterio's entrance. It appears that someone jumped the barrier and rushed the ring, presumably to attack Punk. The lights were down a bit at this point so it was hard to see, but it looks like the fan was restrained by Tony Chimel and some of the security on hand.
Match Eight:
World Heavyweight Championship Match
Edge def. Jack Swagger (c) by DQ, Swagger retains
A good, solid match between the two, proving that Swagger can prove effective in his current role if utilised properly. The match ends with Swagger hitting Edge in the leg with a steel chair in full view of the referee. Swagger attempted to continue the attack but was hit with a Spear. Edge stayed in the ring for a few minutes more and thanked the fans for coming out
