The WWE travel packages for Wrestlemania 27 were released today to fans. Fans taking part in the offer would receive a WrestleMania ticket in the first 10 rows, the take-home collectible chair, tickets to two AXXESS sessions, a ticket to the Hall of Fame ceremony, a ticket to a private autograph session with a WWE talent the day before Wrestlemania and a $25 merchandise gift card. Fans can also take a four day package that would include a ticket to Raw the day after Mania.
The travel packages list Saturday 4/2/11 for the 2011 WWE Hall of Fame ceremonies. I really, really, REALLY wish the company would move the ceremony to Friday evening. Since the 2008 ceremony where Ric Flair was inducted as the main draw, the running time of the ceremony has been cut back in order to make sure the WWE TV Production team can edit and finish the HOF USA Network special that airs the same night. It's extremely hurt the actual Hall event the past several years in terms of the emotional, legitimate feel that the evening has always had in years past. In my mind, while it sucks for fans who are paying $55-$75 a ticket to attend, the real victims are the legends being honored, some of whom have to encapsulate decades of their life's work into two-three minute speeches, which is both pathetic and needless. Moving the Hall to Friday would allow the production team to get their editing done, would allow the Legends to go as long as they wish while discussing their lives, would allow the fans to truly get their money worth and would also provide a much better draw in regard to selling Wrestlemania DVDs, as the Hall is always included as an extra. I have seen some really amazing speeches from the likes of Jim Ross, The Rock, Ric Flair, Roddy Piper and Dusty Rhodes at the Hall and it would have been a shame to have forced these men to three minute speeches. It's equally a shame to force anyone else. I really hope one day WWE blinks and does the right thing for all involved, including themselves.
Raw will be at the Phillips Arena the day after Wrestlemania, 4/4/11.
