Windows version of upcoming action role-playing game now "on a different schedule" than Xbox 360 cousin; won't make previously scheduled October 26 debut.
Microsoft and Lionhead Studios surprised many gamers when the two announced that a PC version of Fable III would be released alongside the console version on October 26. However, those awaiting the Windows version of the third installment are going to have to wait longer, as the game has been slapped with a delay.
Microsoft has not confirmed an updated release date for the PC version of Fable III and said only that the game is now on a "different schedule" than the Xbox 360 version.
PC gamers will have to wait to throw their children.
"The console and PC versions are now on different schedules as we’re focusing on building experiences optimized for each platform," read a statement given to GameSpot. "We aren’t announcing a ship date for the PC SKU at this time, but expect news soon."
Developed by Lionhead Studios, Fable III will cast players as the king or queen of Albion, tasking them with commanding their realm, keeping the peace, and waging war.
In other Fable news, yesterday, Lionhead Studios and Microsoft unleashed the Fable III Villager Maker tool on Xbox.com. The Web-based app lets those who preorder the game create a custom character that can be migrated to the full game.
