SYFY #1 CABLE NETWORK IN PRIME AMONG ADULTS 25-54
NEW YORK – October 4, 2010 – The Syfy premiere of WWE Friday Night SmackDown® on Friday, October 1, pinned 2.5 million total viewers, becoming the most-watched 8-10 PM Friday time period on the channel since 2008 (10/31/08 Ghost Hunters Live).
During the live telecast from Oklahoma City, SmackDown averaged 988,000 Adults 18-49, 1.07 million Adults 25-54 and a 1.7 household rating.
In the 8-9PM hour, SmackDown delivered more Men 18-49 than ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox and more Men 25-54 than Fox and ABC.
During the 9-10PM hour, SmackDown delivered more Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54 than Fox (The Good Guys), more Men 25-54 than Fox and CW (Supernatural), and more Men 18-49 than Fox, CW and NBC (Dateline).
The program attracted more total viewers than new episodes of The Good Guys on Fox and both Smallville and Supernatural on The CW. It was the #1 cable telecast for the day among Adults 25-54 and was the #2 primetime cable program for Adults 18-49.
SmackDown also delivered its best performance among Men 12-34 for any Syfy prime telecast in this demo since the network premiere of Saw III on 10/17/09.
Powered by SmackDown, Syfy was the #1 cable network in 8-11PM prime for Adults 25-54 and #2 among Adults 18-49.
Compared to Syfy’s Friday 8-10PM Third Quarter average, SmackDown leaped +91% in total viewers, +93% in Adults18-49 and +72% in Adults 25-54s.
