Joey Styles wrote on Twitter today he won't return to WWE announcing because of the same reason Mick Foley gave in his official WWE website interview.

The Smackdown crew will run a house show tonight from Arena Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico.

I'm not sure but I'd assume it's the constant ear bashing and effective "back seat commentating" they get through the headset from Vince or other higher ups.
