WWE King of the Ring Returns!

The King of the Ring tournament will be resurrected once again by WWE for the 11/29 three hour episode of Raw in Philadelphia, PA.

The last King of the Ring tournament saw William Regal crowned King on 4/21/08 of a three hour Raw in South Carolina.

The tournament was created as a special attraction event in 1985 for the Boston, MA market. It graduated into a full blown PPV in 1993, won by Bret Hart. The tournament continued as an annual PPV until 2002, when it was won by Brock Lesnar. The Raw/Smackdown brand split killed the show as a PPV entity. It was revived in 2006 for the Smackdown brand as a vehicle to elevate Booker T into King Booker en route to several World title runs.

Will Bourne be back by then? JoMo would be a good choice. Too early for Danielson though. I agree though that it should be back as an actual PPV, and not just some 3 hour Raw. Maybe if they went commercial free that night, but that's unlikely.

I agree, I used to love king of the ring's tournament style, also a lot of stars where pushed to new levels thanks to it, wwe make it a ppv again. with the way wwe is at the moment barrett will probley win it but punk winning would just be AWESOME.

I'm assuming it'll just be Raw guys.

Bourne isn't back until Feburary time most likely otherwise he'd have been the perfect choice.

I'm hoping for Morrision to win the Rumble and Bryan is involved in an angle and has a title already.

With the heavy Nexus push my money is on one of them winning it.

Ideally that would be either Justin Gabriel or Michael McGillicutty but I can see it being David Otunga as a way to further the tension between him and Wade Barrett : /
